Business Facilitation Centre

Entrepreneur Development is the key to successful enterprises which will contribute towards economic development of the region. Due to socio- cultural, political and historical factors, industrial development has taken a back seat till recent times where the people of the region have started to engage in business activities. However, entrepreneurship in the real sense is still at its nascent stages in the NER. In today’s business economy, First Generation Entrepreneurs are exposed to complex and competitive business environment. Many enterprises came up but could not survive because the entrepreneurs still lack knowledge in many areas of running a business. A business can be sustainable only if the entrepreneurs are equiped with the knowledge encompassing the entire business environment/ universe.

To cater to this specific need NEDFi started the Business Facilitation Centre (BFC) model where experienced mentors will provide handholding support to potential entrepreneurs who attended the BFC. This BFC provides guidance in Managerial, Technical, Financial, Commercial & Marketing and even for preparation of Project Report and credit linkages in places where professional Project Consultants are not available. The Mentors at BFC are trained on the facilities offered by NEDFi including its financial schemes of MSE which will also help them in facilitating credit support to the deserving entrepreneurs. The Mentors are also trained in policies and incentives given by different Govt. agencies. The BFC is set up as a joint initiative with SIDBI.

NEDFi had set up its first Business Facilitation Centre on November 1, 2011 in the state of Mizoram. This was followed by opening of more BFCs at Gangtok in Sikkim, Shillong in Meghalaya, Silchar in Assam, Kohima in Nagaland, Imphal in Manipur, Itanagar in Arunachal Pradesh and Agartala in Tripura.

Under this initiative, a booklet with other information is made available to entrepreneurs as under:

  1. A booklet on How to start a Business Enterprise.
  2. Industrial Policies of North Eastern States of India.
  3. Incentives available in various Ministries of Govt. of India.
