Objective:
The objective of the scheme is to
empower the North Eastern artisans and reduce poverty among them by:

Providing new designs;
·
Developing concepts for product diversification;
·
Upgrading skills of the artisans;
·
Introducing better production techniques on improved
equipment and raw material;
·
Improve productivity;
·
Provide market linkages and improve margins and
incomes;
·
Capacity building for credit linkages;
Name of the scheme:
The scheme may be
called “Design & Skill Up gradation Scheme of NEDFi” and it will
cover all the 8 states of the North East
Salient features of the scheme:
The scheme will cover
the following activities viz:
(i) Handloom (ii) Handicrafts (iii)
Food processing (iv) Other products as may be identified from time
to time.

sector/Horticulture/Floriculture/Mechanical Engineering/Repairing &
maintenance/IT related activities/plastic products etc.
It is conducted by
NEDFi in association with NGO/Government agencies within the NER
with local designer/instructor/master craftsmen.

NEDFi can also arrange for specific training
programmes with the designers from outside the NER depending on the
need.

Individual craftsmen / entrepreneurs / NGOs which have
taken financial assistance from NEDFi are facilitated to take short
duration training in a reputed organization to enhance their skill
Eligible persons/Entrepreneurs:
Artisans,
Craftsmen, Entrepreneurs of the NE region /SME/ NGOs/VA shall be the
eligible persons under the Scheme. However priority shall be given
to the artisans, craftsmen, entrepreneurs/NGO/VA/SME assisted by
NEDFi under its various schemes.
Empanelment of Designers/Instructors
Implementing agency:
(a)
For all purposes, NEDFi shall be the implementing agency.
NEDFi may identify co-partner/s for implementation of the scheme.
NEDFi reserves the right to modify the scheme as and when required
in the interest of NER.
