CSR ACTIVITIES 2017-18

Highlights of CSR initiatives of the Corporation during the FY 2017-18

  • Capacity Building Programme for 562 beneficiaries on skill up-gradation in crafts and other vocational trades
  • Infrastructure support to 2294 artisans through common facility centers, marketing facilities.
  • Mentoring assistance to 579 entrepreneurs of the region through the 8 Business Facilitation Center (BFC) of the Corporation

Details of CSR spent during the FY 2017-18:

1. Total minimum amount to be spent in the financial year: Rs.1.76 Cr.i.e 2% of average net profit of last three financial years as detailed in item 3 above.

2. Manner in which the amount spent during the financial year is detailed below;

3. Amount unspent: The unspent amount of Rs. 0.875 Cr been sanctioned towards the North East Craft Village project and carried forward to FY 2018-19.

CSR Projects: (Rs in lakh)

* The figures indicated against the district of Kamrup (Metro), Assam includes beneficiaries of all states of NER who participated in various capacity building and exhibitions, organised by NEDFi at its Head office, Guwahati, NEDFi R & D Centre at Khetri as well as programmes organized outside NER. Since the Corporation Head Office is situated in Kamrup (Metro) district, all such events are included under the same district, and therefore it includes project beneficiaries from various districts of NER.

Reason for not spending the amount:

North East Craft Village Project :-

The Corporation under its CSR initiative has conceptualized the North East Craft Village project at Amerigog village, 9th Mile, Jorabat, Assam during the FY 2017-18. The project will adopt a comprehensive strategy for promotion of artisans and weavers associated with the handloom and handicraft sector of the region. It will have craft houses for capacity building, craft haat and showroom for providing marketing platform including online marketing, raw material and accessories bank to cater to the specific needs of artisans. Further, it will undertake activities on quality certification and brand promotion, establishment of knowledge repository on NER crafts and other associated activities for overall promotion of craft and culture of the region.

An amount of Rs 102.03 Lakh was sanctioned for the project, out of which Rs 14.53 Lakh was utilized towards undertaking initial activities like contour survey, preparation of master plan and architectural model for the crafts village, etc. In this regard, permission from local Gram Panchyayat has been obtained while NOC from statutory bodies like Department of Environment & Forest and others, have been applied / in process. The civil work at site will be initiated after getting necessary permission / NOC from the respective statutory bodies. Therefore, the balance fund of Rs. 87.50 Lakh could not be utilized during the FY 2017-18 and is being carried forward against the project, under CSR budget of the Corporation, for the FY 2018-19.

  • Capacity Building Programme for 516 beneficiaries on skill up-gradation in crafts and other vocational trades.
  • Infrastructure support to 1467 artisans through common facility centers, marketing facilities.

* The Registered Office of the Corporation is situated in Kamrup (Metro) district. The figures indicated against the district of Kamrup (Metro), Assam also include various capacity building programmes and exhibitions, organised by NEDFi at its Registered Office, Guwahati, NEDFi R&D Centre at Khetri as well as programmes organised outside NER, which had representation from all the states of NER.

# NEDFi Haat is an exhibition infrastructure set up at Rupnagar, Guwahati in the model of Dilli Haat to promote marketing of artisans, weavers, grassroots producers, entrepreneurs of NER and to provide a permanent platform for direct linkage between the producer and customer. The Corporation under its developmental initiatives had initially conceptualized and set-up NEDFi Haat at Ambari, Guwahati in the year 2002. It was functioning from a building allocated to it by Department of Industries, Govt. of Assam. During the early part of the year 2013, Govt of Assam decided to construct a new building in the same premises, and therefore the Haat had to be closed in September, 2013. The Haat was successful in facilitating market linkage to the grassroots rural producers. Because of its brand image as a marketplace for grassroots producers, the Haat was popular among the customers. The NEDFi Haat project at Rupnagar, Guwahati was therefore taken up under CSR initiative of NEDFi which will help the grassroots producers of NER to establish their market linkage.

CSR ACTIVITIES 2021-22

Highlights of CSR initiatives of the Corporation during the FY 202122

  • Provided Oxygen Infrastructure in hospitals under Mission Oxygen Programme of the Corporation for combating Covid.
  • Initiated a project on Cardamom fiber cluster at Manmao Village in Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh. The project involves construction of building for Common Facility Centre as well as providing capacity building and market linkage support to the women artisans.
  • As Covid protocol restricted artisans from participation in the exhibition, the Corporation organized the North East Craft Fair at NEDFi House, Guwahati, where products from the artisans were sourced and marketing was arranged by NE-SHILP, a not for profit society promoted by NEDFi. The exhibition was held from 9th August to 24thOctober, 2022, which facilitated a total sale of Rs. 31.46 lakh, including Rs.4.49 lakh sale of NEHHDC.
  • Provided Common Facility Centre service at Khetri, to women artisans for production of craft products with market linkage support.
  • Provided market linkage to the artisanal produce of NER through showrooms located at NEDFi Haat, Guwahati, India Exposition Mart Limited, Greater Noida, Craft Gallery, Dispur. The Corporation will also open showrooms at Urban Haats located at Mahabalipuram and Kanyakumari in association with Tamil Nadu Handicraft Development Corporation (TNHDC).

Highlights of CSR initiatives of the Corporation during the FY 202223

  • Constructed Fruit and Vegetable processing centre at Pfutsero, Phek district, Nagaland. It involved renovation of existing building facilitation of plant & machinery and mentoring support.
  • Construction of Training Hall and Women’s Hostel for Bagurumba Weaving Development Trust at Chatra Village, near Ghograpar in Nalbari District of Assam
  • Provided Cardamom Fiber Common Facility Centre at Manmao Village in Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh. The project involves construction of building for Common Facility Centre as well as proving capacity building and market linkage support to the women artisans
  • The Corporation implemented a project on value addition in handloom products in Goalpara (Aspirational District) of Assam for the weavers of Garo, Rabha, Rajbangsi communities, who have been producing traditional handloom products earlier.
  • Facilitated Banana fiber extraction machine and conducted training programme on use of banana fiber for preparation of handicraft items in 3 districts of Nagaland viz. Mon, Peren and Kiphire
  • Provided Common Facility Centre service at Khetri, to women artisans for production of craft products with market linkage support.
  • Provided market linkage to the artisanal produce of NER through showrooms located at NEDFi Haat, Guwahati; India Exposition Mart Limited, Greater Noida; Craft Gallery located at Dispur and Panbazar, Mahabalipuram in Tamilnadu etc. through NESHILP, an NGO promoted by NEDFi
